SEASON 3 - ELEMENTARY

Then children were brought to Jesus that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said,

“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 19:13-14

The elementary school years are full of wonder and imagination, as well as lots of questions and learning. This is a time to start teaching your kids about some of the deeper things of God. Don’t feel like you have to have the answer to every question, but also don’t discourage or dodge the hard questions they bring up. Always bring them back to the Bible and what God’s Word says. This is also a time to intentionally share the Gospel with your child on a regular basis. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died
for their sins and rose from the dead to give them eternal life if they believe in Him!

Celebrations: We believe that there are significant moments in your child’s faith journey that deserve special recognition and celebration.
We don’t want to simply pass over what God is doing in their life. We want to make a big deal of these moments so that your child will remember
it for the rest of their lives.

Ministries: CLCC provides multiple opportunities to help you and your child in your spiritual formation.

Parenting Ideas: Each season has its own joys and challenges. We want to provide you with ideas to help your kids grow their faith during
                    this season of life.

  • Celebrations

During this season, your child may really begin to explore their faith and make some important decisions for Christ. See the links below for ideas on how you might celebrate these decisions in your child’s spiritual journey.

    Faith Commitment

Your child just prayed to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior! What could be more exciting and worth celebrating than this moment!? Whether your kid is young or old, this is a time to celebrate what God has done in their life. We want to make sure that we don’t just pass over this moment. HERE are some ideas for how you can celebrate this beautiful moment in your child’s life.

    Baptism

Once your child has made a faith commitment, the next step in their faith development would be to be baptized -  identifying with Christ and publicly declaring their faith. Please reach out to one of our pastors or ministry leaders to help you prepare your child for this important step.

    First Communion

We celebrate Communion (also known as The Lord's Supper) each month at Canyon Lake Community Church. For those who've made a faith commitment to Christ, it is important that we follow His commandment to remember His sacrifice for our sins until He returns - regardless of age.  We'd love to suggest many ways that you can celebrate this step in your child's spiritual journey - just click HERE!

    CLCC Promotion Sunday

Even at church we take the time to celebrate the fact that our kids are growing up and maturing in their faith and the way they interact with the world around them,. At the end of each school year we host a promotion event to celebrate just that!

    AWANA (Tuesdays)

AWANA is the place to be on Tuesday evening! With Bible lessons, games, activities and Scripture memory, the focus of AWANA is to supplement the discipleship that's taking place at home.

    Summer Blast

Some might call this "Vacation Bible School on steroids," but we know whatever you call it, your kids are going to have a blast! Join us for a week of games, crafts, Bible lessons, songs and lots of FUN! You even get to choose your favorite elective activity! And then we wrap it all up with a family festival on Saturday afternoon. Definitely something your family will not want to miss!

  • Ideas

    • Speak a blessing over your child.
    • Pray for your child and with your child. Pray for salvation. Teach your child to pray.
    • Read and study the Bible with your kids.
    • Begin talking with your kids about screen time habits and mental health.
    • Begin studying what the Bible says about sexuality and marriage so that you are prepared to have these conversations with your child.
    • Plan a family trip to mark transition from elementary school to middle school. This is like a graduation celebration, but instead of having a party, why not do a family trip together to celebrate your child's accomplishment! This could be a road trip: going to the Grand Canyon, a vacation to your child's favorite spot, or it could simply be going camping together for the weekend.
