Peter Van Dyke
While on vacation in California in October 1976, Pete agreed to preach on a Sunday morning, and three months later became the first pastor of Canyon Lake Community Church. Three years earlier, a group of people in Canyon Lake saw a need for a church in the area and began meeting in various locations, being served by guest pastors. After the Corona Land Company generously donated a parcel of land, the congregation built a small chapel, and in 1976 they were ready to hire a Senior Pastor. For almost 35 years, Pete has continued to lead the congregation; teaching in our three sanctuary services each Sunday and providing leadership for the entire church body.
Pete and his wife, Pat, have two adult daughters and two grandchildren.
Thor has said it on more than one occasion, “Most standup comedians are just preachers who haven’t answered their call.” After twenty-plus years as a standup comedian (he started comedy in 1987), Thor answered the Lord’s call to ministry where he now serves as teaching pastor of CLCC’s Threshold worship option. Believing that God should be glorified in all areas of life, he continues to be a practitioner of the arts (and comedy, too) when his schedule permits and looks forward to the publication of his third book.
Thor has been married to Dinika for 20 years and they have two lovely girls.
Dave and his wife, Mollee, began attending Canyon Lake Community Church when they moved into the area in 1992. Over the years Dave served in many positions of leadership including multiple terms on the church Council. In 2009, Dave accepted God's call to join the church staff as the Executive Director. After being commissioned by the RCA in 2015, his title has changed to executive pastor. His passion for the ministry of the church coupled with the years of experience managing his family's corporate business have been a perfect fit for the needs of this growing church.
Dave, Mollee and their two girls are very involved in the Worship Arts and Student Ministries at Canyon Lake Community Church.
Pastor of Worship Arts
Responding to God's call to Canyon Lake Community Church, Bryan and his wife Amy moved their family into the area in 2005. His infectious enthusiasm for the Lord is evident as Bryan leads worship for the sanctuary services at CLCC. Aside from worship music, Bryan's varied interests in drama, videography, and graphic arts keep him very busy.
Bryan, Amy and their two teens often serve the Lord together, leading the congregation at Canyon Lake in worship.
Student Ministries Pastor
Often accused of being a big kid himself, Jay brings a lot of fun to the role of Student Ministries Pastor. Since he came on staff in September 2006, Jay has had the privilege of seeing middle school and high school students make life-changing decisions for Christ. Although there's always plenty of laughs and fun when Jay's around, he is also an engaging communicator of God's Word.
When they're not running around with kids from Student Ministries, Jay and his wife Nikki are running around after their own four young children.
As a part of Canyon Lake Community Church's overall vision for the future, plans were developed in 2008 to begin a community preschool. Brittany was thrilled by the possibility of teaching at her home church. Canyon Lake Community Church Preschool opened its doors to students in the fall of 2010 with Brittany on staff as a full-time preschool teacher. In 2011, Brittany accepted the position of assistant preschool director and as of the summer of 2013, she answered God's call to the position of preschool director. Brittany has a true passion for preschool age children and their overall development. Above all, Brittany is honored by the opportunity that she and the teaching staff have to daily show Christ's love to children and their families.
Brittany was born and raised in Canyon Lake and still resides in the area with her husband Ricky and her two Rottweilers.
Kristy moved into the area in 1981 and by 1982, had become a member of Canyon Lake Community Church. Kristy didn't feel that she was "good enough" to attend church, let alone serve on the church staff, but God instilled in her an unquenchable passion. Challenged through Pastor Pete's preaching to use her talents and gifts to serve the Lord, Kristy soon became very involved - first as a volunteer ministry leader and ultimately in her current position as Office Administrator. Her passion for the body of Christ at CLCC combined with her managerial experience makes her an invaluable part of the church ministry staff.
Kristy, her husband John, and their two adult children all live in the area.
